Best Paper Award at KSC 2025
Jaewoo Park, an integrated MS-PhD student at the Social Computing Lab, has been selected as a recipient of the Best Paper Award. His paper is titled "Analysis of Affective Polarization through Toxicity Dynamics in YouTube Comments: Focusing on the 'Martial Law Crisis'."

Joint Research Seminar with ANU (Nov 10, 2025)
We were pleased to welcome Sumayya Ziad from The Australian National University (ANU) to Kyung Hee University. While visiting Korea to present at the prestigious CIKM '25 conference, she shared her latest research in Information Security with us. To foster potential collaborations in computer science, we organized a joint research seminar bringing together the Computer Vision & Robotics Lab (CVRL) at Kwangwoon University and our own Social Computing (SoCom) Lab.
Selection as a 2024 Outstanding Academic Book
We are proud to announce that our translation of "Causal Inference and Discovery in Python" was recognized as a "2024 Excellent Academic Book" this July, organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Academy of Sciences.
Causal inference goes beyond the capabilities of traditional machine learning by identifying underlying cause-and-effect relationships. As a scientific discipline, it is becoming an increasingly vital concept in the age of AI.
Excellent Paper Awards at KCC2024
We are proud to announce that two undergraduate researchers from our lab have been recognized at KCC 2024. Jaeyoung Jeon won the Excellence Award for the paper "Understanding Synchronous and Asynchronous Diffusion Patterns of COVID-19 across Regions," and Yunseop Kim received an Honorable Mention for the paper "Exploring Diffusion Processes and Underlying Structural Insights of Disparate Visual Media Content." A big congratulations to both students! 🎉

Appointment to the Ministry of Justice Advisory Committee for the "Full Digitization of Criminal Justice Procedures"
The 'Advisory Group for KICS Development Strategy' was established in August 2023 to advise the Minister of Justice on the advancement of the next-generation Korea Information System of Criminal Justice Services (KICS). The group is composed of 13 experts in the fields of AI, Big Data, and Criminal Justice.
